Single-storey rear extension
A recent relaxation of planning requirements, between 30 May 2013 and 30 May 2016. This now allows for residential properties to apply for prior consent to construct a single storey rear extension. The distance that a terraced property can now apply to extend is 6 metres from 4 metres and for detached properties it is 8 metres from 6 metres. Another bonus is that there is no fee from the local authority for this process.
A number of detailed elements will need to be adhered with when developing the design and it would be dependent that there are you are not situated within a designated area or if the permitted development rights have been removed or limited for any reason.
