The existing site was the entrance to a wider field, sitting between two dwellings on the outer edge of the village of Iron Acton. Our client was keen to explore the potential of creating a home that they could move into and would allow them to live comfortably into later life

The dwelling was designed following a detailed analysis of the massing, volume and positioning of the neighbouring dwellings. Although this site sits within the greenbelt and outside of the settlement boundary, we were able to clearly demonstrate that the proposal was a suitable infill to the village. The development that we proposed included 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, large kitchen and dining spaces along with a range of ancillary spaces throughout.

The home was ultimately for our clients who were long term residents of this village and wanted to stay local into later life with a home that would work with them. This ultimately led them to move into a home that was purpose built. The internal environment was fully developed considering steps, opening widths and the potential to introduce a stairlift or lift at a later date.

Architecturally the dwelling needed to blend into its surroundings, therefore we opted for a render finish with sash windows and small shed type dormers that sit comfortably against the strong stone wall boundary and its neighbours.
